The City Of Belle Glade is making a positive change regarding our city parks and needs your help. In partnership with the community, the City of Belle Glade will join with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and various groups to make a lasting contribution to our community through a commitment to improving a city park site. Please take a moment and review this brochure to see the impact on the lives of our children and residents. There is no cost to your group. The only thing that is required is your time and dedication to making your community, a better place. What is the Adopt-A-Park? This program is designed to begin a relationship between a city park and individuals or volunteers from organizations, schools, youth groups, places of worship and businesses who might live near the park. By caring and helping to maintain the city park, the residents will take ownership of “their” park. This ownership can result in lowering crime in the area and beautifying the park at the same time. What level of involvement is required to Adopt-A-Park?Volunteers organize clean-up days a few times a year to pick up light debris which will help maintain the park for community use. Volunteer groups are encouraged to use their park throughout the year. Landscaping, painting and upkeep of park buildings are other tasks that can be addressed by the volunteer group. Cleanup and painting supplies will be supplied by the City of Belle Glade to partnership with the citizens wishing to help. What are the Benefits to Adopting a City Park? This program allows community groups to make a lasting contribution to their community through a commitment to improving a city park site. It provides opportunities for community groups, organizations, businesses, and individuals to get involved in City wide beautification projects. All participating Adopt-A-Park groups will receive a City Proclamation Award during a city council meeting in appreciation of their hard work and dedication. An Adopt-A-Park sign with the sponsoring group’s names will be placed in an appropriate area of the park in recognition of the ongoing volunteer group’s efforts.
